SEPT 19: In a significant step to upgrade internal connectivity and a huge sigh of relief to people affected by the closure of Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Northern Railways on Friday has commenced the operations for the Special train from Budgam to Katra.
It is learnt that the train service will be functional for 15 days, from September 19 to October 3, 2025.
Train No. 74688 will cater areas like Ramban, Banihal, Reasi. The train will halt on Reasi, Bakkal, Dugga, Sawalkot, Sangaldan, Sumber, and Khari.
Aditionally, the train will leave Katra 1:45 pm and reach Budgam at 6 pm. Next day, it will commence operations from Budgam at 9:30 am and will reach Katra at 1:30 pm.
As per the reports, the arrangements have been made to ensure seamless operations and provide support to the affected passengers on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Notably, not only the National Highway but other areas of Jammu and Kashmir have also been suffered due to torrential rains that caused ravage.
Railway officials have said that the safety and convenience of passengers remains foremost priority, adding that since the road services have been suspended in various areas, this special train will lend a helping hand for travel at times of devastating situation.
