AUG 20: To ensure the safety of students, teachers, and visitors during adverse weather, the Directorate of School Education Jammu has issued SOPs for all educational institutions.
Schools have been asked to regularly inspect buildings, walls, roofs, and electrical systems, and ensure students stay away from open grounds, trees, and electric poles during storms, heavy rains, or lightning.
Institutions near rivers, streams, or ponds must remain extra cautious and keep safe evacuation routes ready in coordination with local authorities. Principals will be personally responsible for implementing safety measures, with mandatory safety committees in each school.
Students will also be trained on weather-related safety practices. Director Dr. Naseem Javed Choudhary has instructed strict compliance with these SOPs to prevent any untoward incidents.
