‘BJP won’t stay silent as people suffer; party strengthening rapidly across Kashmir with growing youth support’

SRINAGAR: BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul issued a stern warning to the Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday, stating that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not hesitate to take to the streets if public grievances continue to be ignored.
“If the government fails to act on pressing public issues, the BJP will take to the streets. We will hold protests, organise rallies, and launch public campaigns to get the people’s demands addressed,” Koul said while speaking to reporters.
He asserted that although the BJP is currently in the opposition in Jammu and Kashmir, it is actively playing its role in highlighting the problems faced by citizens. “We gave them time, but people’s problems are piling up. Now, if this government continues to be unresponsive, you will soon see BJP workers protesting across the Union Territory,” he added.
Ashok Koul also spoke about the BJP’s growing presence in the region, citing increasing support from the youth and the party’s expanding grassroots presence.
“Today, in every constituency and every district where we are conducting programs, the public response is overwhelming. Youth are joining us in large numbers — some new faces, and many who were already aligned with us,” he said.
“This clearly shows that BJP’s base in Kashmir is growing stronger by the day. The day is not far when the BJP flag will be raised high in Kashmir,” he added confidently.
Reacting to the formation of new political parties in the region, Koul welcomed the development, calling it part of the democratic process. However, he emphasized that the BJP remains focused on strengthening its own organisation. “We can’t stop anyone from forming a party — it’s their right. But our focus is on making the BJP stronger in both Kashmir and Jammu,” he said.
He also took a dig at former deputy mayor Sheikh Imran, who had previously announced his resignation. Koul alleged that the move was an attempt to cover up his failures. “If someone feels they are not capable, they should step down. But blaming others to hide one’s incompetence is wrong,” he said, referring to a recent video by Imran.
