JUNE 21: In the light of 11th International Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Yoga as the pause button that humanity needs to breathe, to balance, to become whole again.
While addressing the celebrations on International Day of Yoga at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, PM Modi stressed on the fact that Yoga offers a pathway to peace during surging stress and instability in parts of the world.
Moreover, on the occasion, he made a strong pitch to the global community urging to celebrate Yoga Day as the beginning of Yoga for Humanity, which advocates the fact that inner peace is Global Policy.
Stressing upon the fact that Yoga should not only be regarded personal practice but should be a medium for global partnerships, PM Modi called upon the world to make Yoga part of lifestyle and public policy.
PM recalled India’s appeal to the United Nations in 2014 to declare International Yoga Day on June 21, saying that the proposal received unprecedented support from 175 countries.
“In the current times, after 11 years, Yoga transformed the lives of crores of people around the world besides being an integral part of their lives,” Modi said.
Enumerating the positives of Yoga, PM Modi said, yoga is more than physical exercise and contributes to well-being.
