JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) will convene a one-day working committee meeting on Wednesday, with party president Dr Farooq Abdullah chairing the crucial session.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, all party MPs, MLAs, provincial and district presidents, and senior functionaries from Kashmir are expected to attend.
The meeting comes months after the deadly militant attack in Pahalgam, which left several security personnel dead and sparked concerns over a deteriorating security environment. In this context, the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to dominate the discussions.
According to party insiders, the working committee will deliberate on the recent security challenges, public apprehensions, and the need for elected representatives to proactively engage with citizens in their constituencies. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to brief the gathering on the government’s response to recent incidents and efforts to maintain peace.
A key agenda item will be directing party MLAs and local leaders to intensify their presence on the ground — listening to public grievances, reviewing the delivery of services, and reassuring communities in sensitive areas.
The meeting will also review the status of development and welfare schemes in various districts.
