Jambu Zoo to thrown open to public today

Jammu: North India’s largest Zoo, ‘Jambu Zoo’ likely to open for the public on May 29 while the under construction Tirupati Balaji temple all set to open its doors for devotees on June 8 will give a major boost to local tourism industry and provide structure to developing Jammu own Tourism identity.
According to official sources, nearly 62.17 crore Zoo projects were completed in Mid May after which a team of Central Zoo Authority conducted an inspection for the registration purpose in the light of the mandatory clearance obtained by the Department of Wildlife of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Spread over 3200 kanals of land near Jammu city’s Nagrota on Jammu-Srinagar highway, the Zoo is considered as North India’s largest Zoo and has become a major tourism highlight for people visiting Kashmir or Mata Vaishno Devi Temple shrine in Katra.
Interestingly the construction work of the Tirupati Balaji temple, located amidst the picturesque Shivalik forests in Majeen here, is in its final phase and the temple is scheduled to open its doors for devotees on June 8.
As per official, Jambu Zoo, spread over 3200 kanals of land near Jammu city’s Nagrota on Jammu-Srinagar highway. The Zoo is considered as North India’s largest Zoo and has become a major tourism highlight for people visiting Kashmir or Mata Vaishno Devi Temple shrine in Katra. Interestingly the construction work of the Tirupati Balaji temple, located amidst the picturesque Shivalik forests in Majeen near Shidra stretch of Highway is also in its final phase and the temple complex is scheduled to open its doors for devotees on June 8. The temple, built on a 62-acre land at an estimated cost of Rs 30 crore, is set to become one of the largest temples in the Jammu region and is expected to boost religious and pilgrimage tourism in the Union territory.
Officials added that commissioning of some ambitious infrastructure projects including Jambu Zoo in Nagrota area and Tirupati Balaji will be major tourism attraction in the city along with already dedicated Bahu Fort- Mohmaya-Peer Kho ropeway project, fish aquarium at Bahu Fort, open air theater at Bagh-E- Bahu, renovation of Jammu’s MA Stadium and Bahu Circuit.
The further added that upcoming projects like Jammu Tawi River Front, revamping of heritage circuits including Mubarak Mandi, High street project at Apsara Road and BC Road would provide further acceleration to the tourism of Jammu.
