‘Advisories’ challenge dilution biggest achievement

Jammu: Post high profiled G-20 event in Kashmir, all the stakeholders in tourism and trade sector are upbeat that accruing benefits of the decisions taken in meetings are on anvil. There is no pseudo hope, instead a reassured scenario emerging that promises many good things for UT and Kashmir in particular.
Notwithstanding the ‘efforts’ of PDP and NC to negate the positives and abundant possibilities of boost to tourism in general and many layered benefits with regard to revival of trade, G-20 event has rejuvenated those who lost hugely for over three decades to militancy and the violence its agenda entailed only miseries to lakhs of people.
So, there were no buyers to the negativity politicians and other akin elements tried to spread about it. Thankfully, the event passed off peacefully without any untoward incident happening or any controversy erupting, like it happened in the past when international events took place in Kashmir. It is a different story those controversies or disruptions were engineered, rather ‘stage managed’ which eventually marred the purpose of hosting such events.
In other words, highly alert and superbly prepared present day government didn’t allow such people to ‘creep into the scene’, leave aside letting them successful. The credit must be given to LG’s administration besides paraphernalia of security grid and other factors.
What remains a grand success story post G 20,however, is not just the strong possibility of revival of trade and tourism in Kashmir, it’s increased manifestation manifold becoming a reality in a matter of time. Observers have it to say that biggest achievement of stakeholders from the G-20 event in Valley is on the front of ‘travel advisories’ by many countries in the past due to prevalent militancy and terrorism which pushed the sector to the brink beyond repair for many years.
This is for sure going to be reversed or negated in the form it was issued due to violence in valley, say experts. It was the biggest challenge for the government too but with members of different countries now seeing the changed environment for themselves, things are going to be in favour of Kashmir.
With positive reviews on advisories, while the foreigh tourist inflow is hugely expected to increase, the forex reserves will give big boost to economy of the country and individual stakeholders in the field. The stakeholders are also banking upon much needed revival of trade activities in handicrafts, shawls, carpets and other specific items paper machie, wooden, copper metal carved items.
With improvement in situation even though people managed to push sales gradually, but bulk orders from foreign countries as seen in the past had almost vanished. However, this sector is also going to get a big jump once foreign tourist inflow begins.
With G-20 event having concluded peacefully, it was a big disappointment for those who were waiting for ‘protest’ to get registered from any quarter. Leave alone protest, there was not even sign of resentment anywhere….!
