Jammu: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Saturday said the J&K administration remains unconcerned about the problems faced by people, and that they are only busy pleasing a few individuals.
The remarks came in the backdrop of the arrest of a conman Kiran Bhai Patel from Gujarat who was masquerading as an ‘Additional Director in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The conman took the security structure of the country's most sensitive place for a ride and enjoyed a full security cover.
“When our party functionaries seek security, they are denied. But when it comes to conmen posing as high flying officers in PMO, administration goes the extra mile in providing security to him. This is the reality of this administration, it only wants to please a few individuals, not the people,” Omar said while addressing a party gathering in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“When there is a popular government in place, the situation is altogether different. People's governments don't please a few individuals, they strive to please people,” he said.
Omar said this episode shows that there was incompetent government in the place.
' It is sad that no one verified his claim. They (government) should have called the PMO to verify…. We understand that you (J&K government) were befooled once, but what incompetent government is this that you were befooled four times,' he said.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti said conmen were enjoying government patronage in J&K
'Conmen whether outsiders or local enjoying government patronage & hospitality, are given protocol, security & access to powerful babus. Compare this to common Kashmiris viewed suspiciously & harassed in every way possible,' she tweeted.
Kiran Bhai Patel was sent to judicial custody by a local court in Srinagar on Friday. J&K police had constituted a three member team to investigate the case.
