Armed men hold bizman’s family hostage in city, rob them of Rs 12L

Jammu: Panic gripped Gandhi Nagar area after ten armed men robbed Rs 12 lakh after taking the family of a renowned businessman hostage in their house in broad daylight, here on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 8 am. The incident of theft at gunpoint has assumed alarming proportions in the city.
While District Police Jammu is tightlipped over the incident, official sources said that around 8 to 10 thieves barged into 99 AD , the house of a renowned businessman namely Rakesh Agarwal son of Sahib Aggarwal in posh locality of the city, Green Belt area in Gandhi Nagar, early in the morning and hostaged all the family members present in the house at gunpoint.
They snatched their mobile phones, locked them in one room, had liquor and committed theft in broad daylight.
After four hours theft, the alleged thieves had taken away DvR from CCTV camera installed in the house with them. They said that six family members including businessman’s son, who is an advocate, besides her daughter in law (daughter of ex minister) and four servants were present in the house.
After the incident, a police team of police station Gandhi Nagar reached the crime spot.
Meanwhile, a senior police officer wishing anonymity said that no complaint from the family side had been received by 6 pm.
He, however, said that the investigation of the case is under progress.
