Jammu: Asserting that the wrong narrative was built upon Article 370, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the government had taken the right decision on August 5, 2019, by abrogating it.
“We took the right decision on August 5, 2019, as we know that wrong narrative was built upon Article 370,” Shah said in an interview adding that the results are visible on the ground today as Jammu and Kashmir is moving ahead towards a peaceful democratic journey.
"Article 370 is a matter of the country's unity, sovereignty and integrity. But unfortunately, there was an attempt to give it a different colour,” he said adding that the narrative was totally wrong.
“I had addressed rally attended by 20,000 people in Baramulla district of Kashmir, the national anthem was also sung by people and all these happened after the abrogation of Article 370,” he said.
Not only this, Shah said that stone pelting incidents declined to zero, 30,000 panchayat representatives taking democracy at ground level, the Union Territory witnessed a record influx of tourists, 57000 crore investment received so far, Har Ghar Jal mission has been completed in Kashmir and health facilities of Rs 5 Lakh given free to people of the UT.
He added that for the first-time people of Jammu and Kashmir are feeling that they have got all the rights.
“We know that the wrong narrative was built on Article 370 and we took a decision after brainstorming sessions. With the grace of God our estimates were right and today Jammu and Kashmir is ahead towards a new democratic journey with peace,” he said.
He further added that the no other PM is as popular as PM Modi in Independent India.
"On the basis of my study, I am saying that There was a war between countries. When I was busy in the UP election, I watched in surprise that 35000 Indian students were stuck in Ukraine. From both sides, bullets and missiles were being fired. At around 11.30 pm after returning from the UP election campaign, Modi Ji called up the presidents of both countries. He said that our children are stuck and we can rescue them if the hostilities halt for 2.5-3 days. And firing stopped from both countries. No other leader in the country has such an impact."
"I haven't seen in my life a person saying that we will do Janata Curfew tomorrow. When COVID came, there was no circular, no direction to the police and government. But all the people of the country remained in their homes from 6 am in the morning to 6 pm in the evening because the PM of this country has appealed to the people to fight against Corona."
He added that the zero tolerance towards internal and border security will continue.
"Our policy of zero tolerance towards internal and border security will continue. No one should have any doubt about this. We made the UAPA law more stringent. We enacted amendments in the NIA Act to extend the scope of the investigation overseas. The NIA has been given the right to declare a person a terrorist besides an organization."
