Jammu: Determined to change the mindsets and vision of misled youth in the Kashmir valley, the Indian Army on the directions of the Centre with a mission to motivate youth to don olive, will be holding special recruitment drives very soon across the Valley.

Defence sources said that the ideologies of youth in Kashmir are changing very fast and they are heading towards peace.

“Instead of falling trap to the inimical forces, the youth in large are participating in various recruitment rallies being organised time to time by the Armed Forces, Para-military forces or the J&K Police,” sources said and added that the Central Government is planning to conduct special recruitment drives by the army and central paramilitary forces in Kashmir for which the Army has also taken an initiative of training the youth at special camps, especially in rural areas to motivate them to don olive.

The local officers, sources said, have been approached by the civil society members from different parts of Kashmir with a request to the army, the administration and the Lieutenant Governor for holding a special army recruitment drive.

“The special recruitment drives in the pipeline will not only increase participation by the youth but also enhance further the dialogue-coordination-cooperation between the common people and the army and it will also foil the designs of the separatists,” they added.

“Though large numbers of Kashmiri youth are already serving in the army but still, many far flung areas of Valley are deprived of recruitment rallies and in view of that, special drives are to be undertaken very soon to woo youth from Kashmir valley to join the Indian Army,” they said.

“The Jammu and Kashmir Government held deliberations with the Union Home Ministry, Ministry of Defense and Military Administration on the request of the local populace to hold recruitment rallies for which proposals are under consideration on large scale to engage and absorb youth in the Armed Forces,” they said.

“The real change in Kashmir is visible on the ground. People living near military camps ask about recruitment drives and youth visit the offices with documents and on seeing their enthusiasm, training camps are being established so that at the time of recruitment rallies, they successfully achieve their goal,” said an official.

“It is good that more and more youth are desired to join Indian Army and by channelizing their positivity, we will surely succeed in fighting terrorism and restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
