CSS: Govt spends 58% of budget on various programmes, projects

SRINAGAR: Showing the seriousness of the Jammu and Kashmir government towards the development, over Rs, 5882.48 Crore has been spent by authorities on various programs and projects of centrally sponsored schemes under the annual budget of 2021-22.
Centrally Sponsored Schemes, including Flagship Programmes, are being implemented in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir through different Departments and are being regularly monitored by the Planning, Development, and Monitoring Department.
A senior government official affiliated with the development told TNN, “Under annual budget 2021-22 against the total fund availability of Rs. 9936.28 Crore for Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Rs. 5882.48 Crore stands utilized up to ending February 2022”.
Sharing the brief physical achievements made under some of the significant Centrally Sponsored Schemes and Flagship Programmes during 2021-22, he said, “Over 21,952 schools and as many as 4,96,490 children have been covered under the CSS”.
Adding that, he said, “Under the MGNREGA, 12.75 Lakh job cards have been issued, whereas, 10811 no of self-help groups have been formed under the DAY-NRLM (UMEED) scheme. At the same time, 8172 SHGs have been provided revolving funds”.
Further, 2127.74 km of rural roads have been constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. At the same time, 614 community sanitary complexes have been built under the Swachh Bharat Mission - Gramin, whereas 121 community/public toilets and 100% wards (door-to-door collection) is completed under Swachh Bharat Mission - - Urban, he added.
He said that over 223 projects have been sanctioned under the Smart City project, out of which 105 stand completed. “Further, 83 (Cumulative) projects have been approved under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, out of which 64 have been completed”, he said.
Not only that, the government has constructed 38249 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, and 7881 houses have been constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban, the official said.
Further, the Social Welfare Department under the POSHAN Abhiyan procured 31174 Smartphones (Cumulative) Growth Monitoring Devices. He added that nutrition and health checkups for children of 0-6 years/pregnant/lactating mothers were provided to 896818 beneficiaries.
“Also under the National Health Mission program, 96.5% Immunization were covered, Percentage of Operational HWCs stands at 70.87%, Percentage of Institutional deliveries out of total estimated deliveries are 92.4%”, the official said.
Another official who is also part of the project said, “More importantly, Health and Medical Education Department under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has covered 4.99 families, whereas 252 hospitals are impaneled”.
He added, “17.2 e-cards have been generated under AB-PMJAY, whereas 1, 67, 858 patients have been treated under the scheme”.
Also, under the centrally sponsored scheme, as many as 10.57 rural households have been with Functional Household Tap Connection. At the same time, 93% of piped water coverage in terms of the population stands completed, whereas 57.57% of individuals have household connections, he added.
“Further, under the National Social Assistance Programme, the pension was provided to 143654 old aged widows and disabled people. Also, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, the Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department provided 1239000 LPG connections to women in BPL households”, the official said.
Adding that, he said, “Under the scholarship schemes, Post Matric Scholarship was provided to 2820 OBC students, Pre- Matric Scholarship was provided to 9338 OBC students and Pre- Matric Scholarship was provided 11261 SC students”.
