SMC suspends 2 employees, attaches enforcement officer

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Commissioner Athar Amir has suspended Ward officer, Zonal Enforcement Officer (ZEO) and has attached Chief Enforcement Officer (CEO) for failing to take necessary action against illegal construction at Batapora Srinagar.
The commissioner has further asked the official to do the detailed inquiry and submit a report within 7 days.
Reports said that a building was being constructed at Main Chowk Hajam Mohalla Batapora, Srinagar. While it was found by the SMC team that the building was being constructed without proper building permission.
In this regard, an order has been issued by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Amir.
“Whereas, it was reported that a major construction by Javaid Ahmad Soli S/o Wali Mohammad Soli at Main Chowk Hajam Mohalla Batapora is being constructed without due permission. Whereas a team was sent on the spot and it has been prima facie found that the construction is being done without proper building permission”, the order reads.
Whereas, prima facie it appears that the concerned Ward Officer, Zonal Enforcement Officer (North), have failed to take the necessary action as was due in this regard which is serious negligence of duty. The Ward Officer, Ward No. 13 Irshad Ahmad Akmali, Zonal Enforcement Officer (North) Bashir Ahmad are hereby put under suspension with immediate effect. Chief Enforcement Officer Mudasir Hussain Banday is also attached with the office of Joint Commissioner Adm (R), the order added.
“Joint Commissioner Administration Riyaz Ahmad Shah and Joint Commissioner Works Rajinder Singh shall do the detailed inquiry and submit a report within 7 days. The incumbent Chief Revenue Officer shall hold the additional charge of Chief Enforcement Officer till further orders”, it added.
