USBRL project Bridge number 39 completed work on yard, platform in progress

Jammu:The pace of progress on the prestigious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project has been expedited to fulfill the dream of connecting train to Kashmir with rest of India by 2023, the executing agency has completed the Bridge Number 39 while the work on yard and platform is in progress.
“The work of installing a foundation on the bridge number 39 is complete which is located between Katra-Reasi rail link,” an official said.
He added that the yard of Reasi station with two lines and platform will also be built on this bridge which will be a marvel of engineering.
The official said that about 7000 million tonnes of reinforcement steel and 6700 million tonnes of structural steel have been used for the construction of the bridge, adding, “the work of installation for this bridge between Katra-Reasi has been completed.”
Erection of the foundation is like a milestone achieved in this project, he said. The bridge is situated on a 105 meter high concrete pillar and the length of the railway bridge is 490 meters and has a total of 8 spans.
Reasi station yard (main line, loopline and platform on both sides) will be constructed on the bridge.
A 326 km long rail line is being laid from Jammu to Baramulla to connect the Kashmir Valley with the Railways network across the country.
Out of 326 kms, 215 kms of railways have been completed.
The construction work is going on in full swing in the remaining part of Katra-Banihal rail section (111 kms), he said and added that a number of tunnels and bridges are being constructed in this part of Himalayan terrain and difficult terrain.
Union Minister of State for Railways, Patil Danve on October 10, reviewed the pace of progress on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line project.
Reviewing the pace of progress on the prestigious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL) project, the Minister directed the concerned to complete the dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by 2023, saying that there is no dearth of funds for the development and welfare of the people of the country.
The Minister was informed that the total length of USBRL is 272 KMs, of which 161 KM has already been commissioned, while the work on the 111 Kms Katra-Banihal stretch is in progress and is expected to be completed by April 2023.
The Katra- Banihal stretch comprises 27 nos. of Main tunnels and 8 nos. of Escape tunnels involves 97 Kms tunnelling work. The T-49 is the longest tunnel i.e., 12.75 Kms situated between Sumber- Arpinchala in Sangaldan area of Ramban district.
The project is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 27,949 crores, the meeting informed, and added that as many as 786 people who have lost their 75 per cent land are provided jobs in Railway, besides other basic facilities are also being provided to the locals.
