Lucknow, Oct 17: Hitting out at the opposition for neglecting overall development of the society and working in their own interest, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Sunday, said that his government worked to realise the goal of welfare of all sections of society.

He said this while addressing the backward class convention organised by the state unit of BJP here.

“Before 2014, the slogan of those who ruled was ‘Sabka Saath, lekin unke parivar ka vikas’. They didn't care about the development of society and the nation. We worked to fulfill the resolve of ‘Sabka saath, sabka vikas aur sabka vishwas," he said.

"Even if a single person remains deprived in society, society cannot prosper. The basis of the prosperity of the society is formed only when the development of all sections of the society is done,” CM said.

In the convention, CM Yogi listed the achievements of the state and the central government regarding the welfare of the backward classes and the positions they have been given in the party organisation.

“BJP believes in the nationalist ideology. Its basic mantra is ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah: Sarve Santu Niramayah’, which is wishing everyone happiness, wishing for everyone's health. It is a matter of happiness that the schemes of the government are becoming the basis of self-reliance of the society,” CM asserted.

Launching a scathing attack on the previous governments for causing hindrance in the development of the state, the CM said that Uttar Pradesh used to burn in the communal fire. This was the reason that the state was lagging so far. The situation worsened, unemployment increased, the state was completely burning with riots and clashes all around.

Earlier, during festivals, when its time for business, curfews were imposed in the state due to riots/clashes happening under the government’s nose in the state. The previous government used to give shelter to the rioters. The people of the state were harassed by the riots, false cases were filed.

The festival was pushed into darkness. Not a single riot happened in the last 4 and a half years, he said.

Giving a stern warning to the rioters, the CM said, “If you disturb the peace and tranquility of the state, then your next seven generations will compensate for it. Now there can be no riots in the state, festivals are being celebrated with joy in the state.”

Mentioning the work done in the state, the CM stated, “Today, the state is witnessing development in every way. Our government has constructed 2.61 crore toilets and also community toilets are being built in villages. Houses are being constructed for 42 lakh people under the PM Awas yojana.”

Highlighting the achievement of the government, he said that earlier, only 4 out of the total 75 districts had electricity. Today, there is a crisis of coal, yet we are buying electricity and providing light to the homes of the poor.

Describing how the government helped the underprivileged class overcome their struggles, the CM said that after coming in 2017, the Mati Kala Board was formed. Earlier our idols used to come from China, the people of our Prajapati society used to sit back without any work. Now, we are not getting idols from China, rather making them on our own. Lamps are also being made on Deepawali.

This time we will light 9 lakh lamps in Ayodhya on Diwali, he added.

BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh, Minister of State for Industrial Development Dharmveer Prajapati, Vice-Chairman, National Commission for Backward Classes Dr Lokesh Kumar Prajapati, State president OBC Morcha Narendra Kashyap, BJP State General Secretary Priyanka Rawat were also present during the convention.
