PDD employee, driver killed one injured in road accident on Bhadarwah-Chamba interstate Road

Bhadarwah Oct 17 : Two persons including driver and an employee of PDD (Power Development Department) who were travelling in a mini passenger vehicle died on spot and another got seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Khanni Top on interstate Bhaderwah-Chamba road on Sunday afternoon. Police said that the victims’ were travelling towards Padri from Sartingal village.

The deceased were identified as Ijaz Ahmed (45) son of Mohd Sultan and Ravi Kumar (42) Son of Shadi Lal both residents of Sartingal village. The Injured has been identified as Irfan Ahmed son of Bashir Ahmed resident of Bheja village.

According to family members, the trio has gone to collect sticks from the Padri forest in the morning traditionally used for thrashing paddy.

Police said that the sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK06 - 8133 skidded off the road near Khanni Top and fell into 300 ft deep gorge perhaps due to the slippery conditions because of the drizzle since morning.

"Two persons died on the spot while the injured was immidiately shifted to SDH Bhadarwah," officer added.
