Spell bounding show by fencers at the Goodwill day-night fencing event

Jammu: It was a spell bounding show by budding fencers at the Goodwill Day-Night fencing event organised at the Maulana Azad Stadium here.
The bouts were organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council in collaboration with Ad-hoc Committee of J&K Amateur Fencing Association under the supervision of Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu.
The competitions were organised by Assistant Commissioner (General) Jammu, Rakesh Dubey while Ms Nuzhat Gull, Secretary, J&K Sports Council was the Guest of Honour and Dr Zafar Iqbal, Chief Account Officer (CAO), J&K Sports Council, was the special guest.
Convener Ad-hoc Committee Rashid Ahmed briefed the dignitaries about the fencing sport and it's growing popularity among masses.
The participating fencers also expressed gratitude to the J&K Sports Council and the Govt of India for granting the Centre of Excellence in Fencing to the M.A Stadium, Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Fencing instructor, Shoutu Lal Sharma and Junior Coach, Rachna Jamwal.
The event was officiated by Maninder Pal Singh, Varun Slathia, Javed Ahmed and Teja Singh.
In the bouts, (Sabre Women) Shreya Gupta beat Ananya 10-4, in (Epee Boys), Sawan Magotra lost to Sivansh Kapoor 3-5, in (Sabre Boys) between Udaiveer beat Lakshya, 5-2, in (Epee women), Twinkle beat Gyan Kaur 4-1, in (Foil Men), Tanish beat and Aadhar 6-4 and in (Women Foil), Shriya beat Suhani 5-1.
Ms Gull, speaking at the occasion, briefed the achievements of players, appreciated and encouraged them for the results they have secured at the national and international levels.
Mr Dubey lauded the role of J&K Sports Council for encouraging sports with true spirit.
"India is flourishing in sports and Jammu and Kashmir has no dearth of talent as well," said the Chief Guest.
He wished the athletes a bright future.
