Jammu: Taking a lead across country in the vaccination drive against the deadly infection of COVID-19, the Jammu and Kashmir has vaccinated almost 64 percent of eligible population in the different age groups atleast with one dose.
As per the data accessed by The News Now, the Jammu and Kashmir has 91,55860 eligible registered population including 60,79 571 in the age group of 18-44 years while 3045527 fall in the age group of 45 and above.
Out of these total population, 5906318 (64%) have been inoculated so far atleast with one dose.
Among vaccinated people, 4731 293 were partially vaccinated against the deadly infection while 907227 are fully vaccinated.
In agewise breakup data reveals that, against the population of 60, 79, 571 in the age group of 18 to 44 years (43% of projected population for 2021), 16,85,666 first doses and 55,400 second doses have been administered so far. About 28% of population has been inoculated in this category.
The data further revealed that against the population of 3,076,289 in the age group of 45 and above), 30 45527 first doses and 851827 second doses have been administered so far. About 28% of population has been inoculated in this category.
Vaccination against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) began in Jammu and Kashmir January 16.
Initially only healthcare workers across the Union territory, who had registered themselves for the vaccination, were given shots and then frontline workers were covered in the second phase.
The Jammu district has administered about 2,19,087 first jabs to its citizens, which is so far highest in the entire UT, while 30, 412 second doses is also highest in J&K. While Shopian in Kashmir valley is the lowest in vaccinating its population as only 31,070 have received first shorts. In Rajouri only 80 second shorts have been administered so far.
Ironically, the priority groups which were first to get vaccinated in the drive which began in J&K about seven months back, have not been fully covered so far. It seems the efforts of government to vaccinate its entire population would not be achieved, till the priority groups including health care workers and front line workers do not get fully vaccinated. These groups have maximum interaction with the population and they pose greater threat of spreading the virus.
Of 1,22, 235 health care workers registered in J&K, 1,04,283 have received first shorts with 85% coverage, while 65, 204 second jabs have inoculated with a coverage of 54%. In Samba and Rajouri more than 100% of HCWs have received first shorts. While against 3,59, 542 front line workers, 3,13,967 first doses have been administered with a coverage of 87% and 2,01,594 second doses with 56% coverage. Pulwama, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Kathua, Ramban and Reasi have so far inoculated 100% of FLWs with first doses in these districts.
In all age groups 59,54,003 total jabs including 47,58,919 first doses and 11,95,084 second doses have been administered so far in the J&K.
