Record 994.83 MT oxygen supplied in UP

Lucknow, May 8: On the instructions of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, oxygen supply in Uttar Pradesh has been increased and during the past 24 hours, a record 994.83 metric tonnes of oxygen has been supplied throughout the state.

Apart from this, 78.46 MT of oxygen has been supplied through air separators units under self- production.

Giving a detailed account of the supply of oxygen in the state during the last 24 hours, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Avnish Kumar Awasthi said here on Saturday that 586.58 MT of oxygen has been supplied to the refilers by the Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration.

Also, as a result of the efforts of the government, 318.36 MT of oxygen has been supplied to medical colleges and medical institutions in the state and 89.89 MT of oxygen has been supplied directly to private hospitals by the oxygen suppliers. In this way, more than 994.83 metric tons of oxygen has been supplied in the last 24 hours in government and private hospitals across the state.


Mr Awasthi said that 10 oxygen tankers from Jamshedpur with a total of 80 metric ton capacity have reached Lucknow at 11 am on May 8 by Jeevan Rakshak train. Similarly, 6 tankers of about 48 MT capacity have been made available for Kanpur.

Adequate oxygen arrangements have also been ensured for DRDO Lucknow hospital. Besides, adequate arrangements of oxygen have also been made for DRDO Varanasi Hospital. For Kanpur, arrangements have been made to deliver 80 metric tons of oxygen through a special train tomorrow. For Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, arrangements have been made to provide oxygen by filling 80 MT tanker from Jamnagar Gujarat till tonight / tomorrow morning.

It is noteworthy that on the instructions of the Chief Minister, online monitoring of the oxygen supply system is being done through a special control room set up in the Home Department to fulfill the demand of oxygen in the state.

In this control room, senior officials and employees of the Home Department, Food and Drug Administration, Medical Education, Health and Family Welfare and Transport Department are working continuously for 24 hours in coordination.
