Jammu: The first ever ‘Sehat Scheme’ launched under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the ‘Golden Card’ facility was introduced for the beneficiaries across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has turned a nightmare for the applicants due to non issuance of the cards allegedly because of defunct portal system.
Under Ayushman Bharat, ‘Golden Card’ facility was introduced in Jammu and Kashmir in December last year.
According to sources in the health department, the ‘Golden Cards’ are not being issued at present because of defunct portal and the details of beneficiaries cannot be uploaded.
“Many people have applied for the Golden Card but due to a defect portal, concerned are unable to upload details and fresh cards are not being issued,” sources expressed.
They further added that while on the one hand, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is instructing the Health Department to issue golden cards to each and every applicant without any delay but on the other, the defunct portal, has hampered this exercise.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Ayushman Bharat, Jan Arogya Yojana Sehat scheme on the lines of Ayushman Bharat, Jan Arogya Yojana on December 26, 2020 with a purpose to benefit people with health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh (each family member) of Jammu and Kashmir.
The cashless health insurance scheme was first to be introduced in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the Ayushman Bharat scheme, every family member entitled for a Health Card must have a name in the 2011 census.
“Initially the biggest hurdle is after registering with the office of Deputy Chief Health Officer and submitting applications to the concerned office, the details cannot be uploaded due to a defunct portal,” sources added.
“The staff dealing always make a plea that the portal is not working and the matter has not yet been resolved despite being brought to the notice of the department heads,” they said, adding that the problem is yet to be addressed.
“It is now more than one and a half month, I had submitted an application to the office of the Deputy Chief Health Officer but the record is not uploaded for further action till date,” an applicant rued.
“The portal is not functioning right now. So many people are waiting for their cards but are unable to avail it,” said a Health official and appealed to the administration to intervene so that the concern can be addressed at the earliest.
