Over 1400 lecturer posts among 1960 vacancies lying vacant in Education Department

103 schools without Principals, 21 DIET’s short of HOD’s

Jammu: As many as 1960 vacancies are lying vacant in the Jammu education department.

As per the official's data of the Directorate of School Education, Jammu as many as vacancies of 1464 lectures of different subjects, 103 Principals, 42 Zonal Education Officer’s (ZEO), 21 Head of Departments, 11 Zonal Education Planning officer (ZEPO), and 319 headmasters stand vacant in government schools across Jammu division.

With regarding vacancies of Principals, 8 posts are vacant in Udhampur, 5 in Jammu, 9 in Poonch, 6 in Kathua, 13 in Ramban, 26 in Doda 9 in Kisthwar, 9 in Rajouri, 14 in Reasi and four are in Samba district.

Further, as many as 21 vacancies of HOD’s stand vacant in DIET which includes 4 in DIET Doda, 3 in DIET Kishtwar, 3 in DIET Reasi, 4 each in DIET Rajouri and DIET Poonch and one in DIET KUD (Udhampur district).

With regards to vacancies of 319 headmasters, the data reads that 51 headmaster posts are vacant in Doda district, 45 are in Jammu, in Kathua 26 headmaster posts in vacant, 21 are vacant in Kisthwar, 31 headmaster posts are vacant in Poonch, 44 in Rajouri district, 35 in Reasi, 30 in Ramban, 10 headmaster posts are vacant in SambaSamaba and 16 headmaster posts are vacant in Udhampur.

Also, 11 ZEPO’s are vacant in six districts of Jammu divisions which include ZEPO Marh ZEPO Akhnoor in Jammu district, ZEPO Bhallesa in Doda, ZEPO Warwan and ZEPO Padder in Kishtwar, ZEPO Manajkote and ZEPO Kotranka and ZEPO Rajouri in Rajouri district, ZEPO Ukhral and ZEPO Gool in Ramban and ZEPO Vijaypur in Samba district.

With regard to subject wise/school wise lectures vacancies the data read that as many as 1464 posts are vacant across the Jammu division, which includes the subject of Zoology, Urdu, Vocation-alization, Urdu, Vet. Dr., Statistics, Stenography, Sociology, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Psychology, Political Science, Physics, Persian, Philosophy, Music, Math, IP/IT, Home Science, History, Hindi, Geology, Geography, Functional English, EVS, English, Education, Economics, Dogri, Computer Science, Commerce, Chemistry, Botany, Arabic and Agriculture.

Talking to TNN, Director School Education, Jammu Ravi Shanker said, “Most of the posts that are vacant in the education department are mostly promotional based. Principal posts are basely done through promotion while the department has sent the DPC in this regard to fill the post which is currently in the process”.

Asked about the vacant lectures post, he said, “In that too most of the posts are promotional based, while as rest of the post are to be filled via direct recruitment. And, to fulfil those posts we have forwarded the information to the recruitment board which is the Public Service Commission. He further said that the vacancy process in the education department is likely to be completed within 2 or 3 months.
