Teenager commits suicide in central Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 17: A 15-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal, official sources said on Saturday.
The teenager consumed some poisonous substance at her residence in Devipora Kurag in Ganderbal on Friday. Her family rushed her to District Hospital Ganderbal from where she was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura in a critical condition, they said.
However, the girl was declared brought dead at the hospital. It was not immediately clear why she took this extreme step, the sources said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstance which forced her to commit suicide.
Upon completion of all legal and medical formalities, the body was handed over to her relatives for last rites.
