Youth killed, another injured in hit-and-run accident in Srinagar

Srinagar, Apr 8: A 17-year-old youth was killed and another ijured in a road accident in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Thursday.

Official sources said that an unidentified speeding truck hit a motorcycle near GB Panth hospital in Srinagar on Thursday morning, resulting in on the spot death of one person, identified as Omar Ganie, and critical injuries to the other.

The injured, identified as Danish Ahmad, was immediately rushed to a hospital. The driver fled from the spot alongwith the truck, they said, adding that police has registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the identity of the accused.

After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased would be handed over to his relatives for last rites.
