Army vigilant to stop any infiltration attempts at LoC

Jammu: The Indian Army has stepped up its vigilance along the Line of Control (LOC) in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, constantly striving to thwart any attempts ofPakistan infiltration as it usually peaks before the onset of winter
Moreover, number of terror incidents increased in recent months in J&K prompting security forces to strengthen security grid along LoC as well as in hinterland. Also, the Rajouri area has seen security forces locking horns with Pak-sponsored militants in the recent past.
The infiltration attempts are likely to rise before winter when heavy snowfall makes such bids difficult. Sources said the estimated presence of over 200 terrorists in launchpads across the Line of Control(LoC) makes this a real possibility.
The number of militants present though has gone down in the Kashmir region; there is a likely increase in the overall number of militants Poonch, Rajouri, and Reasi areas.
Anti-terrorist operations have also been intensified in the villages close to the forests and borders as part of an area domination exercise.
A report quoting Army official said, “We the soldiers of the country patrol day and night for the security of the nation. We have weapons of the new generation which have range till long distance. It is tough but as it is about the country’s security we have to remain alert. We are using new generation weapons with ranges up to 1000m, 700m and 1500 mts. Our soldiers are alert for 24 hours.”
