'2-member inspection team tasked to frame policy for time-bound completion of houses'

Jammu: In a very significant move, the government of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday constituted a two members inspection team for undertaking corrective measures for time bound completion of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna-Gramin (PMAY-G) for the four districts of Jammu division of JK UT.
In the Jammu division, there are 148 blocks in 10 districts, but the PMAY-G scheme remained underperforming. It is pertinent to mention here that since Mandeep Kaur joined the department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) department a number of corrective measures including the replacement of officers at the district level including Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) and Executive Engineer, REW.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of an inspection team comprising of two Jr JKAS officers Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone for the formulation of a strategy/undertaking of corrective measures for time-bound completion of delayed houses under PMAY-G”, Government order no 374-RD&PR of 2022, dated 05/12/2022.

“The team shall evaluate reasons for pendency and delay in the construction of houses and consequently suggest corrective measures, plan and exert efforts for the construction/completion of the houses that are in various stages of completion along with verifying the genuineness of the beneficiaries”, the order further read.
“The team shall visit Rajouri from the 5th to the 9th, of December, Poonch from the 10th to the 13th, Udhampur 14th to the 18th, and Reasi from the 19th to the 22nd of December. All the Block Development Officers/Panchayat Secretaries concerned shall extend full cooperation to the team for removal of impediment, if any, in the effective implementation of schemes to ensure time-bound completion of assigned targets”, the order further reveals.
The PMAY-G is a community welfare program initiated by the government of India with the intention to provide man’s basic need i.e. shelter through “Housing for all” by the year 2022. The homeless and those living in a ‘kuccha’ house are the beneficiaries of this pro-poor PMAY(G) scheme, which was launched in April 2016.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday (1st December) had transferred installments to the tune of Rs. 149.17 crores directly to the bank accounts of 35,097 beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), at the Civil Secretariat.
