JKAS’s house among 14 places raided by CBI, 20 booked in FAA selection fraud

Jammu: Seventeen days after filing chargesheet against 24 accused persons including then Commandant of BSF; then ASI, Constables of J&K Police; then officials of CRPF; teacher and other persons in a case related to J&K Police Sub Inspectors (JKP SI) recruitment scam, the CBI carried out f0resh raids at 14 locations in Jammu and Samba districts on Wednesday in connection with a case related to alleged corruption and irregularities in examination for the posts of Financial Accounts Assistant (FAA) of Financial Department conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB).
The raids were conducted at Akhnoor, Khour, Pargwal, Gadigarh,Satwari in Jammu and Vijaypur in district Samba. The raids were conducted at the residences of JKAS officer then member of JKSSB, Section Officer and Draftsman of JKSSB, Medical Officer BSF Frontier Hqrs, ASI in Jammu and Kashmir Police, private company and other beneficiaries.
The written test for the said recruitment was conducted by JKSSB on 06/03/2022 and the results were declared on 21/04/2022. The Lt Governor led administration had cancelled the recruitment exams of J&K Police Sub Inspector, Finance Accounts Assistants (FAAs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) Civil all were conducted by JKSSB and ordered a CBI probe after allegations of malpractice in the examinations were raised. The allegations prompted the government to constitute an inquiry committee which in its report had indicted JKSSB officials for having criminal conspiracy with the Bengaluru based private company for leaking the exam papers.Based on the report J&K government handed over the case to CBI for probe.
CBI spokesperson said, "The Central Bureau of Investigation today conducted searches at around 14 locations including in Jammu and Samba etc at the premises of accused & other beneficiaries. The CBI has booked 20 accused persons and raided at fourteen locations in Jammu and Samba.
The accused booked in this case include Dr Karnail Singh, then Medical Officer, BSF Frontier Hqrs, Paloura; Neelam Khajuria, JKAS, then Member, JKSSB; Anju Raina then Section Officer, JKSSB; Kulvinder Singh, draftsman JKSSB, Ashwani Kumar, Ashok Kumar, then ASI in the J&K Police; Roshan Bral working as ReT teacher; M/s MeritTrac Services Private Limited, Bengaluru; Lakshmi Sharma; Mukesh Kumar; Shubam Patyar; Manish Kumari; Avinash Sharma; Bandana Sharma; Gurjeet Kour ; Bandan Choudhary; Rajinder Makhnotra ; Gurpreet Singh and Harpal Singh.
