Centre to supply 3.5L nat’l flags to Jmu to make ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ success

Jammu: To make ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a huge success, the Ministry of Culture on the request of the Jammu District Administration is supplying 3.5 Tricolors to be hoisted on every household for celebrating 75 years of Independence as a part of ‘Azadi Amrut Mahotsav’ from August 13 to 15.
“As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, this Independence Day, the tricolor will be hoisted at every house and the national anthem will resonate throughout the Jammu city,” an official said.
Stating that the preparations to make the event a great success, is in full swing, he added, “the district administration has arranged 3.5 lakh tricolours, so that the national flag can be hoisted atop houses, shops, government and private buildings between August 13-15.”
He however, said, “the Ministry of Culture, Government of India is providing 3.5 lakh national flags on a request extended by the Jammu District Administration.”
There are 3.5 lakh houses in Jammu district and under the campaign a target has been set to hoist the tricolor at every house, he revealed.
Moreover, the administration has also engaged dozens of self-help groups to stitch tricolors, so that it can be easily supplied to every nook and corner of the district.
“The supply of flags from the national capital has started reaching Jammu while the administration has entrusted the responsibility of making the national flag to Self-Help Groups of women working under the National Rural Livelihood Mission,” said an official.
He said that the SHGs have also stitched thousands of National Flag and in view of the availability the Jammu District Administration has almost completed the preparations for the historic event.
The official further said, “under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’, the district administration has also made arrangements for distribution of flags through ration depots.”
“The national flags are being made available in Jammu city and its peripheries at a cost of Rs 20 at all the ration depots,” he revealed.
“The National flags will be made available to the people through ration depots and the distribution process has already started,” said an official appealing to every citizen to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ proudly by hoisting the national flag from August 13-15.
