Govt begins process to set up JJB in all districts of J&K

SRINAGAR: The government of Jammu and Kashmir intends to constitute a Juvenile Justice Board in each district of the Union Territory.
Following the decision, the government has invited applications for workers/members of the Juvenile Justice Board and has asked applicants to complete the process in 15 days.
To constitute the Juvenile Justice Board, the Jammu and Kashmir government is exercising the power and discharging the duties conferred to these committees in relation to the children in conflict with law under the Act, in consonance with the provisions contained under Juvenile Justice rule 4(3) of 2022.
A notification in this regard has been issued by the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Selection Committee Under Juvenile Justice Rules, Directorate of Mission Vatsalya.
On behalf of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir, the Selection Committee of J&K, applications are hereby invited front eligible and interested Social Workers (Male/Female) for appointment as Member(s) of the Juvenile Justice Boards in each district of the UT of J&K for exercising powers and for discharging the functions of the Board, the notification reads.
As per the notification, there shall be two members in each district of which at least one shall be a woman. Further, as per the notification, the applicants are invited to social worker members Juvenile Justice Board for a period of three years in terms of J&K rule 4(3) of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act 2015 for exercising powers and for discharging of duties.
As per the notification the applicant must have at least seven years of experience working with children in the field of education, health, or welfare activities or should be a practicing professional with a degree in child psychology or psychiatry or sociology or in the field of law.
The appointee shall be governed as per the terms and conditions laid down under the provisions under the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act 2015 and J&K rules 2022 and as per the instructions issued from government time to time. The chairperson and members shall be entitled to Rs 1500/ per sitting. The advertisement is not a government job.
