Farmers` exposure tour flagged off

KATHUA, DECEMBER 12: Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Ghanshyam Singh today flagged off two groups of 80 farmers from different villages of district Kathua district on an Inter-state exposure visit from DC Office.
While interacting with the farmers, ADC said that the Exposure Visit has been organized with specific objective of sensitizing the farmers with organic farming, modern production technology and management procedures besides post harvest and agriculture marketing.
He asked the farmers to get acquainted with the latest interventions and adopt them at their farms to double their income by 2022. He further called upon the farmers to keenly learn from such visits and get benefitted by implementing those technologies in their fields.
During the five days exposure visit, the group of farmers will visit Centre for Excellence of Vegetables, Kartarpur, Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana, Forest Research Institute, Dehradoon and Remote Sensing Institute, Dehradoon.
On the occasion it was apprised that farmers will learn about latest innovations and techniques in Organic Farming, Protected Cultivation, Integrated Farming, Drip Irrigation, Doubling Farm Income, Value Addition and use of Improved Agriculture Machinery.
Earlier, The ADC also chaired a meeting of District Advisory Committee on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act.
ADC asked the committee to take necessary action in case of complaints filed against diagnostic centres for non-compliance of the Act and public notices to be issued for general awareness that may desist people from visiting these centres for sex determination of the foetus.
Variation of rates in diagnostic centres and awareness under BBBP campaign regarding Child Sex Ratio were also discussed threadbare in the meeting.
ASP, Ramnish Gupta, CMO, Dr. Ashok Choudhary, CAO, Arun Gupta, DAO, Sanjeev Rai Gupta, district committee members and other concerned were present on the occasion.
