Promotion of Exports: Motivation campaign held for Bamboo artisans at Samba

SAMBA, NOVEMBER 19: A one day Industrial Motivation Campaign on Promotion of Exports was today organized here at Village Sangwali by Ministry of MSME in collaboration with Handicrafts Department, DGFT Jammu and Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts New Delhi.
Sangwali being a home to hundreds of bamboo craft artisans, the one day campaign was organized with a vision to support the existing skill and infrastructure.
The artisans were made aware about the schemes of MSME and marketing potential of the products being manufactured by the artisans of the village.
Speaking on the occasion, Assistant Director, EPCH New Delhi Siddharth Tyagi, said that people must register themselves with the Development Commissioner Handicrafts to avail the encouraged them to produce a variety of quality bamboo products which can attract markets. He also offered full support for the endeavors being taken up by the MSME in collaboration with Handicrafts Department.
Aruna Narula, Assistant Director, GFT Jammu also motivated the artisans to produce aesthetically rich bamboo products so that the same can be displayed at international trade fairs and attract the sellers from every nook and corner of the world. Smt Anju Gupta, Joint Director, Handicrafts said that bamboo artisans should come forward and take benefits of the schemes of the Central Government to boost employment generation. Assistant Director, MSME, Sh Mohit Garg spoke on the occasion about the Cluster Development Programme under which a Common Facilitation Centre consisting of advanced machinery and other infrastructure to produce bamboo products like furniture, doors, windows, craft pieces etc can be built for the upliftment of the artisans in the village.
Sansar Chand, General Manager, DIC Samba, extended his full support for the registration of micro bamboo units in the village. Approximately hundred artisans attended the campaign. Sonam Verma, Assistant Director Handicrafts, Samba, J P Thapa, Chief Manager, SBI Jammu, Director RSETI, Tarsem Singh Sarpanch, Naib Sarpanch, Panches of the Panchayat, officials of Handicrafts Department were also present at the occasion.
