DLSA conducts surprise inspection of Udhampur Police Stations
UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER-19:- A team of District Legal Service Authority today conducted surprise inspection of Police stations in the district and reviewed their working.
On the direction of Chief Justice Gita Mittal, Patron in Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) and Chairman District Legal Services Authority, (DLSA) Udhampur, Mohan Lal Manhas, Secretary DLSA Sub Judge Udhampur, Sandeep Kour along with Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mohd Rafiq Chak, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Udhampur conducted surprise visit of Udhampur, Rehmbal and Women Police Station of Udhampur .
During their visit, the team expressed dismay over certain shortcomings in functioning of these stations and summoned record books including ‘Rojnamcha (Daily police dairy), records of F.I.R etc.
The team also inspected Mess, Hawalat (strong room) and sanitation in the police stations.
DLSA team also interacted with the detunes lodged in different police stations besides checking the absconder and proclaimed offenders register.
Taking strong note of various shortcomings in police stations, DLSA team directed the police officers to strictly follow the guidelines of Supreme court in D.K Basu versus State of west Bengal during the arrest, detention and interrogation of any person. They also gave on spot directions to concerned Station House Officers to overcome lacunas in police stations in stipulated time frame.
