Control rooms being set up by essential services departments


RAJOURI, NOVEMBER 11: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today chaired a meeting of the district officers of all the departments to review arrangements for restoration of power supply, water supply, snow clearance, road connectivity post recent snowfall besides assessing overall winter preparedness in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Kotranka, Sudershan Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kalakote, Ram Krishan, Chief Medical Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sub Divisional Magistrate Thanamandi, Assistant Commissioner Development, Deputy Director Planning, Executive Engineer PHE Rajouri, Executive Engineer PDD, Executive Engineer STD Kalakote, Nowshera, Medical Superintendents GMC &AH, District Panchayat Officer, Assistant Director FCS&CA, and other concerned officers.
Presenting department wise account of the damages caused due to incessant rains and snowfall, the Executive Engineer PHE Rajouri Division informed that out of 287 functional schemes 19 have been affected due to landslides and overflow of the river beds. He further informed that all the affected scheme are being restored expeditiously to provide interrupted drinking water supply to the public.
The Executive Engineer PHE Nowshera Division informed that there are 114 schemes and all are functioning properly.
It was informed that out of 296 pumping stations in the district 13 have been damaged while 6 pumping stations have been made functional and work on the rest is in progress.
Regarding Power Development Department, the Executive Engineer informed the meeting that out of 102 11 KV feeders in the district, 82 have been affected in the recent incessant rains. Besides, out of a total of 3896 transformers in the district 71 have been damaged and 22 damaged transformers have been replaced till date, he added. He informed that a buffer stock of about 50 transformers, 250 poles and conductors have been kept to meet any exigencies.
Regarding the health services, it was informed that life saving medicines and other related vaccines are in stock in the district Hospital as well as in the SDHs and PHCs.
The officers of the PWD and PMGSY informed that all the major roads are through in the district. Besides, the AD FCS & CA informed that adequate stock of ration is available in the district while 6000 gas cylinders have also been kept as buffer stock.
The DDC asked the officers to remain available at their respective headquarters for redressal of public grievances besides dealing with any exigency. He directed the concerned departments to set up 24x7 emergency control room in the district and sub-district headquarters to combat any emergency situation. He also asked the officers to keep men and machinery in a state of readiness for the next spell of snow and rainfall.
DDC directed the ADCs and SDMs to convene regular meeting with the concerned officers regarding winter preparedness in the sub districts.
