Remove toilets from Jhelum banks: Div Com

Asks I&FC to place location of public toilets on GPS

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 09: As per the orders passed by High Court of Jammu and Kashmir regarding PIL no. 16/2014 titled Javaid Ahmad Zargar V/S State, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmed Khan today chaired a meeting which was attended by heads of various departments.
The Deputy Commissioners of various districts attended the meeting through video conferencing.
In compliance to the High Court orders, Div Com directed the concerned departments to start immediate demolition of the toilets along Jhelum banks, contaminating the water body.
He directed for the construction of new toilets in the adjacent areas for the public convenience.
He asked the officials to furnish a detailed report of the toilets that have been demolished.
Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) department was directed to place the location of all public toilets on GPS so that these can be easily accessible to all residents and visitors.
