Dal lake, surrounding areas to be declared as eco-sensitive zone

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to declare Dal Lake and its surrounding areas as Eco-Sensitive Zone.
In this regard, it also constituted a Committee, which has been mandated to finalize the draft of the notification for this declaration.
The 10-member panel will be headed by Chief Conservator of Forests, Kashmir and would include Director Tourism Kashmir; Vice Chairman, J&K Lakes and Waterways Development Authority; Director, Industries & Commerce, Kashmir; Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Regional Wildlife Warden, Kashmir; Regional Director, J&K State Pollution Control Board, Kashmir; Director, Agriculture, Kashmir; Chief Town Planner, Kashmir; and representative of Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs.
The Committee would finalize the draft notification within a period of one month, said an official order issued by the GAD this evening.
