Harivansh Singh inaugurates int’l conference on Gandhian Philosophy at JU

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 07: Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Harivansh Narayan Singh today inaugurated 2-day international conference on Gandhian Philosophy being hosted by Jammu University in collaboration with Central University Jammu and Sarvodaya International Trust.
The Conference “On Revisiting the virtues of Gandhian Philosophy, the relevance and applicability in the 21st century,” formed the part of the eventful Golden Jubilee celebration of Jammu University and a homage paying gesture to father of nation on his 150th birth anniversary.
Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the international conference.
The conference was inaugurated by lightning of traditional lamp by the chief guest and VC Jammu University, VC Central University Jammu and other guests.
Academicians, scholars, social activists from different parts of the country participated in the conference.
Prominent among them were JS Rajput, former director of NCERT, Ramji Singh, former VC of Jain Vishva Bharati, Ratan Lal Hanglu, Dr. Sarika Sharma of Central University Haryana.
The speakers expressed their views on the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi, the relevance of his message in the current era, his role in the freedom struggle of the country and other related aspects.
The chief guest highlighted the life struggle of Mahatma Gandhi and said that the message and principles of Mahatma Gandhi have become more relevant in contemporary era. He called upon the students to imbibe the golden principles of Gandhian philosophy in their life.
Earlier, Manoj K Dhar, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University presented welcome address. He welcomed the speakers and guests and explained the theme of the International Conference. The VC Central University Jammu Prof. Ashok Aima also threw light on the salient features of the Conference.
