Boy of Pir Panjal making its way to Bollywood

The significance of J&K and particularly Pir Panjal region cannot be ignored when it comes to Bollywood Industry. It was K.L Saigal who showed the path and since then the process is going on. The state has produced great singers, actors, directors and many other artists and these days the young and dynamic Kanish Sharma spreading his vibes through his amazing compositions in the Bollywood music industry.


Kanish Sharma was born in district Rajouri and brought up in Jammu. After completed his schooling from JK Public School Jammu, where he got great appreciation from school management by participating in various musical shows and got his first reward in one of the concert which was organised by Danik Jagran group. And that was his tuning point which diverts his mind and soul towards music and from where the journey of music started. After that he took training under renowned music teacher Mr.P.N.Raina for some time and then moved to LPU, Punjab for higher studies where he composed and sung the title song for the University and also represented the university in various interstate level concerts.

But within the span of one year he left his studies and the thirst for music brought him to Mumbai very early for the pursuance of his passion for music where he got training at Suresh Wadekar music accdemy. During the course of his training, he met with distinguished personalities of Bollywood including directors, musicians, composers, actors etc and struggled hard to convince them about his passion and also to get enter into Bollywood music industry. But, finally he met with Bishakh Jyoti, in a concert where he (kanish) was invited as a guest, the ZeeTv SaReGaMaPa singing superstar and a talented Composer too from Kolkata. The passion for music for both of them was very strong and determined. So, they both teamed up to write a new chapter and also to give new taste to the audience in the Bollywood Music industry.

With his partner, Kanish approached everyone for recognization of their work but after struggling hard their work got recognized by an Internationally acclaimed Movie Director " Nila Madhab Panda " of '' I Am Kalam'' fame. Nila gave Bishakh-Kanish (B-K) their first break in Bollywood and told them to make one song for his movie "Babloo Happy Hai".

Both of them worked too hard in the making of that song and gave their 100% to it. After listening to the song that B-K created, Mr.Panda without wasting even a single minute offered the entire movie along with the background score to B-K. And he was so impressed with both that he teamed up with them and offered them his next feature film based on water issue "Kaun hai Kitne pani mein".The movie got great response in terms of his music in national and international level.

One of his composition "Uhe batiya" sung by renowned musician and singer Shanker Mahadevan was nominated as best Raag based song of the year in Radio Mirchi award show and received great appreciation from whole Bollywood music industry.Kanish Sharma has already worked with renowned Bollywood singers like Shankar Mahadevan,Mika Singh,Sonu kakkar,Amit kumar,Harshdeep kaur,Aditi Singh Sharma,Rahul Ram and some other big names of music industry.

"Talking exclusively to TNN about his future planning and projects, Kanish Sharma said that we are working with our next movie i.e "Lucknow Times" directed by Sudipto Sen and also doing background music for some of the Multi National Brands.And very soon I am going to record a dogri song which would represent our state's composite culture."

"I want to divert my passion towards independent music where i can make or do something different from mainstream and also want to promote dogri music with in Bollywood music industry, and for that i am working with my compositions and very soon will come up with dogri music album",added Kanish."

Not just his composing abilities, the aspirations of Kanish will surely sooner than later make our peer Panjal region proud and acclaim it internationally.
