LMD fines Car Manufacturer Co. Rs 50,000 for selling lubricant oil, other accessories without MRP

JAMMU, OCTOBER 20: Acting on the complaint by a consumer alleging charging of exorbitant rates on the sale of Lubricant Oil while routine car service, Legal Metrology department undertook inspection and booked M/S FCA India Automobile Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, imposing a fine of Rs 50,000 on the company.
The consumer in his complaint alleged that he was charged excessively for Lubricant Oil during car service and that on checking, no MRP was printed on the product.
The team of LMD inspected the car dealer of said company at Kunjwani and found the packs of Oil, other accessories were not bearing mandatory declarations. The case was registered and the company was put to legal notice to show cause why the action may not be taken against them.
The management of the Company pleaded guilty and applied for departmental compounding with the assurance for adhering to provisions of laws on all accessories supplied to the dealer in future.
