Govt shifts Ladakh Affairs deptt to Leh

JAMMU: With only two weeks left to bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories, the state government on Wednesday shifted the headquarters of crucial Ladakh Affairs Department to Leh district with immediate effect.
This was done to oversee the transition of Ladakh to a Union Territory in terms of the Jammu and Kashmir Re-organization Act, 2019 and for operationalization of the Union Territory Secretariat, a government order said.
Consequent upon the above, Rigzian Sampheal, IAS(UP:2003), Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Ladakh Affairs Department would be headquartered at Leh, Ladakh.
“Further, Divisional Commissioner, Ladakh, shall henceforth report to the Administrative Secretary, Ladakh Affairs Department, till further orders,” it said.
