DDC G’bal discusses Solid Waste Management action plan

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 16: District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today chaired a meeting with concerned officials of district administration and Municipal Councillors, Ganderbal to brief them abut Model Solid Waste Management rules and Bye-Laws.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ADDC, Shafqat Iqbal, ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, Nisar Ahmad, Tehsildar Ganderbal, EO Municipality, Executive Engineers of PHE, PDD and R&B.
During the meeting the DDC briefed the officials about Model Solid Waste Management rules and Bye-laws and enquired from the EO Municipality and Councillors regarding the formulation of action plan to implement the solid waste management in the urban area of the district..
While discussing the action plan taken on Model Solid Waste Management Bye-Laws by Municipality, the DDC directed the EO Municipality to submit the copy of action plan to his office comprising of schedule of awareness, segregation of solid waste, collection, transportation of solid waste, processing, disposal and user fee collection, transportation and disposal of solid waste.
The DDC asked the EO Municipality and councillors to start door to door awareness in all wards of the town besides market places of the town including shopkeepers, hoteliers and street vendors to sensitize the people about the various provisions of Solid Waste Management Rules and Bye-Laws with special emphasis on segregation of solid waste from the source, prohibition of burning waste, littering in any public place, path, drain, river or water bodies and user fee, fine, penalties for violating these rules.
In another meeting, DDC chaired District Quality Assurance Committee (DQAC) meeting with the officials of Health Department which was attended by CMO Ganderbal Dr. Masrat Jabeen, Dy CMO and other members of the committee.
The meeting discussed several aspects of Family Planning Indemnity Scheme, Quality Assurance Committee, work done of Sterilization and Sterilization failure cases.
During the meeting CMO briefed the DDC about Family Planning Indemnity Scheme, Work Done of Sterilization besides raised various issues regarding infrastructure, manpower and equipments required for Sterilization.
DDC directed CMO Ganderbal to prepare DPR for both District Hospital and Sub District Hospital Kangan containing components for infrastructure, manpower and equipments so that same is submitted to concern for funding.
While reviewing the progress of Family Planning Indemnity Scheme, DDC asked CMO to generate awareness among people taking help of AASHAS.
