Diwali festival arrangements finalized at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER- 16:– The arrangements for the celebration of festival of lights Diwali were today finalized by district administration here at a meeting of officers and representatives of religious organizations and traders.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh chaired the meeting.
Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements like installation of cracker stalls, security, maintenance of law and order, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, Medicare, checking of rates and quality of eatables and deployment of fire tenders were finalized.
It was decided that a joint inspection of market would be conducted by the officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Health, Municipality, Legal Metrology and Revenue departments to keep a check on the rates and quality of products especially sweets, eatables and fruit items during the festive days. Venue for selling crackers was notified at Subash Stadium.
The PHE and PDD would ensure adequate drinking water and uninterrupted power supply especially at the venue of stalls where people in large number would visit for purchasing crackers and fireworks. The Municipality was asked to ensure cleanliness the venue for cracker sale and entire town.
The Health Department was asked to ensure first-aid and fire services to deploy fire tenders to meet any eventuality. During the meeting, ACR Udhampur Vikar Giri was appointed the nodal officer for all the Diwali festival arrangements in Udhampur. The traders were asked not to sell crackers at their establishments except the identified venue. Special stress was laid on cleanliness of the town, ban on use of polythene at the venue and in the market and security arrangements by deploying adequate number of police personnel during the festival days for smooth celebration of festival.
No sale of synthetic Khoa, uncovered sweet items and crackers in the market should be allowed during festive days, he added.
The meeting was attended by Additional SP, Rajinder Katoch, DySP Traffic, Majeeb- Ur-Rehman, District Information Officer, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia, AD FCS &CA, Mohd Arif Lone, Tehsildar Mohit Gupta, Xen PWD, Ajay Kumar Raju, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. K.C Dogra, Chief Executive Officer Municipality, Santosh Kotwal, Manager Subash Stadium, Shakteesh Chopra, besides representatives of Beopar Mandal, President Karyana Association, President Halwai Association, Member Fruit association and prominent citizens of the town were also present in the meeting.
