DDC Pulwama launches ‘Swachta Hi Sewa’ campaign

PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 18: District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah today launched a sanitation campaign “Swachta Hi Sewa” here at DC Office Complex Pulwama.
The campaign was organized by Rural Development Department in collaboration with District Administration with an aim to aware the people about cleanliness and sanitation.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the aim of campaign is to realize the objective of cleanliness and sanitation in individual and collective life. He said the campaign has been started in all government offices, hospitals, markets, schools and colleges in the district.
Stressing on the role of civil society, NGO’s and general Public in making the campaign a success, he emphasized on the role of individual efforts in discouraging the use of plastic and other non –biodegradable wastes. DDC added the indiscriminate use of plastics and polythene would augment the carbon footprint and may hasten the climatic change.
DDC further exhorted upon the participants that the aim of campaign is to bring behavioral changes among the people towards cleanliness and sanitation.
Assistant Commissioner Development, Block Development officer, Executive officer Municipal Committee and other concerned were present on the occasion.
Earlier, ‘Swachta Hi Sewa Campaign’ and calendar of activities were also issued.
