Commissioner FDA reviews functioning of department

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 18: Commissioner Food and Drugs Administration, Vinod Sharma today reviewed functioning of both the wings of the department viz, Food and Drug.
With regard to expiry of License/Registration of Food Business Operators (FBOs), it was decided that FBOs will deposit the fee into the Account of the department and will complete the other formalities on the restoration of internet. No late fee shall be charged for the period.
The status of pending court cases was also reviewed and directions were issued that appeal before the next appellate courts in all the cases will be decided within 7 days of date of pronouncement of decision by the court.
It was informed that during one month special drive in both the divisions of the Jammu and Kashmir, 51 manufacturing units were inspected, out of which 23 were issued improvement notices, licenses of 03 units was suspended, and one unit was sealed.
It was also given out that 47 samples were lifted; reports of 09 were received, among which 06 were found in contravention to the provisions of the FSS Act, 2006. During the special drive articles worth Rs 13, 21400/- were seized and 05 challans were filed against the erring FBOs.
