Fish farmers learn Hatchery Management skills at 3-day training programme

JAMMU SEPTEMBER 18: Fish Farmers of Jammu region were acquainted with the "Fish Hatchery Management" skills during a three day long training programme conducted by Regional Fish Farmers Development Agency under N F D B-HRD action plan 2019-20.

The programme was organized under the supervision of Chief Project Officer Fisheries, RFFDA, Ghoumanhasan, Gopal Krishan and attended by 50 progressive Fish Farmers of various Districts of Jammu Division.

During the training programme, Fish Farmers were provided hands on skills of importance of Hatchery operation and management , Identification of IMC & Exotic Carps Fish and its seed,Fish Pond Preparation , predatory insects & unwanted fishes, stocking management, Fish feed and nutrition and Integrated fish farming.

Resource persons also delivered special lectures on Fish health Management, Fish harvesting and Marketing.

The practical session were also conducted on water quality management, Fish Feed formation, demonstration on Fish Seed Packing, Transportation and alike.

A field tour to ponds of the Progressive Private Fish Farmers of Bishnah, Vijaypur and R.S Pura areas was organized on Day 2.

The Trainee Farmers learned various aspects involved in the culture of Fish from Stocking to Harvesting with practical Demonstration. They also visited Aquarium Project at Bagh-e-Bahu and Fish Marketing Division Narwal.

The valedictory function was attended by the Director Fisheries, R.N.Pandita, Joint Director Fisheries Jammu (Territorial), S.S Sharma, Joint Director Fisheries, Jammu (Projects),Irshad Ahmed Shah, Project Officer, Sanjesh Gupta and concerned officers.

While interacting with the trainee farmers, the Director Fisheries deliberated upon various developmental schemes being executed by the Department for the welfare of Fish Farmers.

He impressed upon the Fish Farmers to adopt latest technology coupled with management skill to augment their fish production and income.

The skilled Farmers shall help to disseminate the importance and benefits of Hatchery Management to the fellow farmers bringing more area under aquaculture, he added.

The guests also distributed Certificates among the trainee Fish Farmers.

Later, the trainees were also provided with study material pertaining to latest techniques of Hatchery operation.
