CEC Kargil reviews pace of progress on dev works, listens to people’s developmental issues during Silmoo Batalik tour

Lays foundation stone of expansion of school building at Silmoo, 11 KV transmission line at Barchay

KARGIL SEPTEMBER 17:- Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with Executive Councillor for Works Aga Syed Abbass Razvi and Executive Councillor for Tourism Er Phunsog Tashi today laid the foundation stone of the raising works of the 2nd storey of the existing building of Higher Secondary School Silmoo being constructed at a cost of Rs 79.61 lacs under District Plan besides inaugurating the newly constructed laboratory block in the Higher Secondary premises under RMSA at a cost of Rs 43 lacs.
The CEC also inaugurated the laying of 11 KV transmission line from Barchay to Lhalung village under PMDP scheme. Through the transmission line, Lhalung, the first village of Silmoo constituency will be connected to Chutak Hydel Project.
Meanwhile, during the extensive tour, the CEC met a number of public delegations at Lhalung, Silmoo, Sanachay, Batalik, Chulichan, Gargardoo, Darchiks, Garkone and adjoining villages who projected a number of demands and concerns which included the augmentation of water and power supply, up gradation of schools, repair of irrigation canals and water supply schemes, filling up of vacant posts and other related demands.
Addressing the people, the CEC said that LAHDC Kargil is conscious of all major and minor issues of the people of Silmoo constituency and concrete steps have been taken to address them on priority.
The CEC also announced Rs 3.00 lacs for developmental works in Garkone village and Rs 2.00 lacs for the repair works at the hostel of Higher Secondary School Silmoo.
Feroz Khan said that as per the demand of the people, Hambuting La Road has now been laid on the sun facing side and work on the construction of this road is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The CEC said that to provide people with better connectivity through cellular networks, five mobile towers have been installed in the area during the last few months while as to augment power supply, work is going on in full swing which would provide electricity to the area from Chutak as well as Dha Hydel Project.
While responding to the demand with regard to the provision of transport facilities to the students of different villages of the area studying at Higher Secondary School Silmoo, the CEC assured that as committed by the Member Parliament Ladakh, a school bus would be provided to the school before the onset of the next academic session.
While inquiring from the officers accompanying him about the pace of progress on developmental works in different sectors in the area, the CEC stressed them to ensure completion of the works within the set timelines while taking due care of quality parameters.
The CEC also sought cooperation of the public in effective implementation of developmental programmes and welfare schemes on ground.
People of the area expressed their indebtedness to the CEC, ECs and district officers for having visited their area to take first hand appraisal of their grievances and developmental needs.
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil, Programme Officer ICDS, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, I&FC and PDD, CMO, CEO besides other concerned officers accompanied the CEC during the tour.
