DDC Pulwama reviews functioning of RDD, BDC poll preparations

PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 17: District Development Commissioner Pulwama today convened a meeting here to review the functioning of Rural Development Department and preparations for Block Development Council elections.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Planning Officer, SE PDD, Exen R&B, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildars, Block Development Officers and other concerned.
The meeting was informed that 133 works have been identified under ‘Back To Village’ programme and most of these works are under progress and a robust plan has been formulated to execute the works in shortest possible time.
Moreover progress and plan of 14th Finance Commission and MGNERGA were discussed during the meeting.
While reviewing preparations for Block Development Council elections, the meeting took a detailed review of pre-poll, poll and post-poll preparations like publication of draft electoral roll, assured minimum facilities at polling booths, and physical verification of polling stations.
BDC elections shall be likely contested in 11 blocks of the District with 4 blocks including Dadsara, Newa, Achgoza and Shadimarg reserved for women candidates.
On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the officers to pace up their efforts to achieve the set targets within stipulated time. He enjoined upon the concerned to focus on durable asset creation in the district.
He further added that all the necessary arrangements should be put in place well in time for smooth and hassle-free conduct of Block Development Council elections.
Later, the DDC released Swachta Hi Sewa Campaign and calendar of activities thereof.
