DDC Budgam chairs Poshan Abhiyan, Food Safety awareness meeting for ICDS officials

BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 17: A meeting to discuss modalities and Food Safety Standards under Poshan Abhiyan Mission was today convened here under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner (DDC), Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai.
The meeting was also attended by ADC Budgam Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, CPO, ACD, SDMs, BMOs, DWSO, all CDPOs, AD-FCS&CA, ICDS Supervisors and other concerned.
The DDC directed all concerned to follow the prescribed guidelines for safe storage and procurements of all cereal and pulses. He directed ICDS authorities to keep close liaison with FCS&CA department while procuring supplies. The DDC said that the priority is to provide nutritious and healthy food items as these are basic nutrients and requirements to grow healthy physique of a child. In addition focus shall also be to discourage and avoid the selling of contaminated food items particularly at public places, around education institutions and at all food stalls.
During the meeting an action plan on Poshan Abhiyan was also discussed and framed to curb malnutrition, anemia and low birth weight under the mission. Besides it was decided the convergence by Social Welfare, Health, RDD and Education Departments shall be appreciated and executed as per requirements. The DDC directed the ICDS to conduct awareness programmes involving Anganwadi Centers across the district. The focus shall be on breastfeeding providing hygienic mid-day meal, supply of safe drinking water, clean sanitation across the district.
