DDC Ganderbal reviews functioning of Social Welfare department

GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 16: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ganderbal Hashmat Ali Khan today reviewed the functioning of Social Welfare department in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Shafqat Iqbal, CPO, Anika Mushtaq, District Social Welfare Officer and other concerned.
The District Social Welfare Officer Ganderbal presented an overview of various welfare schemes, central as well as state sponsored and scholarship programmes being implemented by the department in the district.
While reviewing the verification of pending cases of Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) and National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) in the district, DSWO informed that under ISSS out of 17464 sanctioned cases, 7257 are pending whereas under NSAP, 1449 cases are pending out of 5268 cases.
Similarly, under State Marriage Assistance Scheme, out of 767 applications, 573 cases received due benefits.
The meeting also reviewed various other schemes of the department including Rehabilitation for Militancy Victims, Contribution of Social Security Scheme, Social Welfare Centers, Cottage Industries Centers, and Scholarship schemes for Minority and OBC Students.
Underscoring the need for proper implementation of Social Welfare Schemes, the DDC said that there is a need for generating greater awareness among the masses about the schemes so that the benefits reach the intended sections of the society in an efficient manner.
The DDC asked the concerned to ensure adequate implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the derived objectives are achieved at the grass root level.
