PCCF reviews functioning of Forest department in Jammu

JAMMU AUGUST 21: Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Dr. Mohit Gera, today reviewed progress on various schemes of Forest Department in Jammu province besides taking stock of implementation of decisions taken at a meeting chaired by Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar.
The meeting was attended by Sameer Bharti, Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu, Samuel Changkija, Conservator of Forest East Circle, B.Mohan Dass, Conservator of Forest West Circle, Sat Paul, Conservator of Forest Chenab Circle, other senior officers and DFOs of Jammu province.
During the meeting, Dr. Gera directed the DFOs for carrying out regular monitoring of plantation drives in the region. He asked them to conduct regular tours of their respective forest areas and submit their tour diaries of each month to higher authorities on regular basis. He informed that third party monitoring of CAMPA works will also be initiated soon
Regarding encroachments, PCCF asked for evolving a Standard Operating Procedure to deal with the specific issues. He directed that the encroachment cases should be classified into separate categories viz. Easy, difficult and very difficult. He asked the DFO territorial for expediting digitization of forest records with the help of P.I. Division and Demarcation Division.
PCCF also took stock of the ongoing training courses of Forest Guards at Training Schools Doomi and Miran Sahib.
CCF Jammu informed that nearly 16 lakh plants have been planted under “Green J&K” drive thus exceeding the set target of 9 lakh. He informed that all the Conservators of Jammu province have held coordination meetings with the other wings to further enhance coordination level for better results. It was informed that formats have been prepared for identifying the sensitive compartments and carry out the protection work, support of DFOs of sister wings is also being received.
