JAMMU: District Cricket Association (DCA) Anantnag today alleged that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has been misusing its power and projecting blue-eyed persons such as Ghulam Rasool.
“The district level cricket associations are being denied their constitutional rights on the directions of CEO JKCA Ashiq Hussain Bukhari,” DCA Anantnag alleged.
“We were given only three days to prepare for elections, which are insufficient to conduct proper elections,” the association said.
The association added “Bukhari has violated Lodha Committee’s recommendations number of times.”
“Elections of DCF/DCA were conducted in every two years under the supervision of JKCA observers as per constitution, unfortunately the CEO misused the powers without taking into consideration, the constitutionally elected body of all the 52 registered clubs besides projecting through blue eyed persons like Parvaiz Rasool,” DCA said.
“The people who are presently organizing tournaments on behalf of JKCA are also involved in tournaments of sports council which is not their domain”, the DCA Anantnag said.
Earlier, Kashmiri ace cricketer Parvez Rasool alleged JKCA was hijacked by some persons due to which the state failed to produce cricketers for the last 70 years.
Parvez alleged that there was no development in JKCA due to its hijacking by some people for their personal gains.
He however stated the JKCA started doing some good work in the last two years.
“Last year, it inaugurated district-wise tournaments in which 1300 teams participated. This year, 1600 teams participated. This is appreciable,” he said. Parvez said due to these district tournaments, several players were selected for national level teams.
“This is a great development which never took place in the last 68 years,” he said. The ace cricketer said the infrastructure of the State in the last seven decades was not even five percent as compared to other Indian states.
“Kashmiri youth have great potential who want to make bright future in cricket by representing Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
