Directs holding camps for on-the-spot registration


JAMMU, JULY 18: District Development Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today took detailed review of implementation of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Schemes (PM-KISAN) in the district, here at a high-level meeting.
Additional District Development Commissioner Jammu Tanveer Iqbal Malik, Chief Planning officer Jammu Yoginder Katoch, Programme Officer ICDS Jammu Natasha Kalsotra, SDMs, Assistant Commissioner JMC, Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu, Chief Agricultural officer Jammu, Deputy and Assistant Directors of various departments were present in the meeting.
While highlighting major provisions of the PM-SYM scheme, the Nodal officer informed the meeting that the scheme is aimed to provide social security to unorganised workers of 18 to 40 year age with a monthly contribution ranging from Rs 55 to Rs 200 per month assuring them monthly pension of Rs 3,000 on attaining the age of 60 years. The enrolment is being carried through common services centres of the district, he added.
Urging for achieving maximum coverage under PM-SYM, Ramesh Kumar directed different departments to register all the eligible workers.
It was informed in the meeting that out of 1,20,838 workers working in various government departments in the district, 3,895 are eligible under the scheme including 1279 Anganwadi Workers of the ICDS, 320 ASHA workers of the health department, 1230 mid day meal workers and remaining from other line departments.
Referring to the Rural Development and the Police department, he asked for registration of 67,662 MGNREGA job cardholders and 1,700 SPOs on priority. Similarly, he directed the tourism department and Executive Officers of the Municipalities to register the workers of hotel industry and Safai Karamchris under the scheme.
To enhance the coverage in the district, the DDC directed the concerned officers to optimize their efforts by organising awareness camps at different locations for on spot registration of the beneficiaries.
The DDC directed for chalking out Department wise calendar for organising the camps and submitting daily report of the beneficiaries covered. He nominated chief planning officer Jammu as a nodal officer for coordinating among the different departments.
Reviewing the PM-KISAN scheme, the DDC said that the Central Government has notified a decision to extend the benefit of ₹6,000 per year under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to all the farmers irrespective of the size of their landholding. It was further informed by the chief Agriculture Officer Jammu that out of total existing 1.4 Lakh farmers in the district 73,494 have been registered. The DDC directed the departments to maximize the coverage through special camps and meet the target within next 15 days.
